Boys’ Choir

The NYCGB Boys’ Choir was formed in 2002 to create a place for trebles to sing  within the NYCGB organisation. Many will go on to audition for a place in one of the Training Choirs.

Boys are allowed to audition from the age of 9 for  the Boys' Choir, with membership ceasing either when the member reaches his 14th birthday, or when his voice drops into a lower register. Our team will offer advice on singing during the voice change, and on auditioning for a Training Choir at the appropriate point. Please contact the office if in doubt: office@nycgb.net.

The Courses

Two courses are held per year; an Easter course involving all the Junior Choirs, and a Summer course just for the boys choir. The courses are run by staff from the NYC organisation.

On courses, members will receive choral training from leading youth choir conductors. Singing lessons and classes in ear training and musicianship will provide a fun learning basis to move up the NYC Ladder.

Voices will be nurtured through the change until they reach an appropriate standard for the National Youth Training Choir.
